Going on a long trip?
To ensure a comfortable and safe journey, it is important to check the condition of your car in advance. Doctor Benz has prepared a checklist for you.
You can check your car before a long journey at our service centre.
1. External lighting
Headlights, parking lights, turn signals, brake lights — check that they are working properly. This is important for your safety and will also help you avoid fines.
2. Chassis
Check and visually inspect the chassis components. If there is any play, knocking, leaks or damage to the boot liners, it is dangerous to drive.
3. Steering
Check the steering wheel play, boot covers, and tie rod ends — wear and tear on steering components leads to poor controllability. Of course, all faults should be fixed before the trip.
4. Brake system
Brake system, checking for leaks in the hydraulic part of the brake system, condition of brake pads and discs. Leaks in the brake system and worn brake pads and discs can significantly reduce braking efficiency, increase braking distance and may lead to loss of control of the vehicle.
5. Ventilation, heating and air conditioning system
The ventilation and air conditioning system must function correctly in all modes to ensure comfortable and safe driving in various climatic conditions.
6. Technical fluid levels
Check the levels of technical fluids: oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, power steering fluid.
7. Tyres and wheels
Tread, pressure, damage — incorrect tyre pressure, tread wear, cuts, punctures or bulges can lead to serious safety and handling issues.
Additionally, we may recommend a computer diagnostic test to ensure that the electronic control systems are functioning correctly.
